2021 Nissan Qashqai Buying Options
Design
The Qashqai defined the compact crossover profile, and it's still one of the most attractive examples of the format on today's roads. Taking the outline of a hatchback and making it higher, chunkier, and more reassuring, the latest design adds features including swept-back LED headlights and a large v-shaped front grille to give a dynamic and confident appearance. At the base level, the Qashqai is fitted with 16" steel wheels, which can be upgraded to 17" or 19" aluminum alloy options on the higher trims.
Performance
The Qashqai is built around a powertrain that's designed firmly for daily driving duties, whether that's in heavy city traffic or covering middle-distance highway commuting duties. The standard engine across the range is a 2.0L DOHC four-cylinder model delivering a reassuringly powerful 141 horsepower and 141lb-ft of torque. The output is passed through either a six-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The outcome is a compact crossover with the acceleration to hold its own on the overtaking lane of the highway, while still being nimble and economical for urban use.
Interior and Infotainment
The base level of the 2021 Qashqai is fitted with dual screens, with a 5" advanced driver assist display backed up by a 7" colour touchscreen for infotainment. Smartphone integration is provided by both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay across the range. Higher trims add to the technology levels with voice recognition for audio control and navigation operation, along with a hands-free text messaging assistant and hands-free smartphone connections over Bluetooth.
Safety Technology
Even at the entry level the Qashqai is supplied with an enviable suite of safety systems, with highlights including blind spot monitoring, intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and a rear view monitor. Higher trims up the ante even further, with extras including rear intelligent emergency braking, lane departure warnings and intervention, and predictive forward collision warnings.
