The Frontier sports a new look both inside and out, bringing modernity to a model that was ready for a facelift. For 15 years, the Frontier remained virtually unchanged, but the 2022 model kicks off a third generation for the Frontier.
Almost every aspect of the Frontier was changed for 2022, except for its tried-and-true frame. But on top of that, new bodywork, a new-ish engine, and a completely redesigned interior make the 2022 Nissan Frontier a truck to seriously consider.

Capability
Nissan introduced the naturally aspirated 3.8-litre V6 engine on the 2020 Frontier model, but it really starts to shine in the 2022 model. This engine generates 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque and pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or four-wheel drive.
For drivers that want increased off-road capability, Nissan offers the new Frontier PRO-4X. A King Cab model is exclusive to Canada, and it is also available in a Crew Cab as well. This off-road warrior features heavy-duty Bilstein shocks, skid plates, and all-terrain 17-inch tires to cut through the toughest of terrain. It also has an electronic locking differential and four-wheel drive.
Design
Featuring new, bold bodywork, the 2022 Nissan Frontier makes a statement with sharp lines and a squared-off hood. The imposing front grille and rectangular headlights add bravado as it travels down the highway.
Drivers might be journeying to dirty or dusty off-road locations, but there is nothing rough and tumble about the Frontier's interior. A redesigned and updated cabin environment offers Zero Gravity seats for passenger comfort and tons of technology. Infotainment
The premium cabin environment is dominated by a sleek and modern dashboard, which features a centralized touchscreen infotainment system. An 8.0-inch display comes standard, but a 9.0-inch display is available on upgraded packages and models.
Nissan upgraded the connectivity features for the 2022 Frontier as well, adding a USB-C port as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Nissan also offers a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless smartphone charging, and a nine-speaker Fender sound system as upgrades.
Safety
Unlike the previous generation, the 2022 Nissan Frontier comes standard with the Safety Shield 360 suite of driver-assist technologies. These features allow drivers to feel more confident with their own driving and the driving of those around them. Standard on all models are intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, and high beam assist.
