2022 Nissan Pathfinder vs 2022 Kia Telluride

The mid-size, three-row SUV segment is extremely popular among families who want space for more passengers without having to opt for a minivan. While the Kia Telluride has taken the segment by storm since its introduction in 2020, it has a new rival in the completely redesigned and updated 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. In terms of value and dependability, there is only one choice to make.

Price and Value

Starting at $43,998, the completely redesigned 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is available in five trim levels across Canada: S, SV, SL, SL Premium, and Platinum. The entry-level model features Intelligent 4x4 with seven drive and terrain modes selector, ProPILOT Assist suite of driver-assistance technologies, tri-zone automatic temperature control, trailer sway assist, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more.

Starting at $46,495, the 2022 Kia Telluride is offered in four model variations across Canada: EX, SX, SX Limited, and SX Limited Nightsky. Well-equipped even at the base model, the Telluride features AWD, UVO Intelligence, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a host of driver-assistance technologies.

Both the Pathfinder and the Telluride offer great value to drivers even on their entry-level models. However, at $2,500 less, the Pathfinder is the better deal. It includes more features to keep passengers comfortable (tri-zone automatic temperature control) and harness the capability of the SUV (trailer sway assist).

Exterior

Nissan completely redesigned the Pathfinder for the 2022 model year, and it did an impressive job. The outdoor rugged appearance remains with a stylish twist, becoming smoother and more aerodynamic compared to earlier, boxier models.

Much has been said about the polarizing design of the 2022 Kia Telluride with its short front end, which now features the updated Kia logo design. It is also an attractive vehicle, but its design is not as modern as the Pathfinder's.

Performance

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is built with a 3.5-litre V6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission that deliver 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. The power behind the Pathfinder shows on its 0-to-97 km/h acceleration time, which came in at 6.7 seconds.

Every model of the 2022 Kia Telluride features a naturally aspirated V6 engine that delivers 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. While these statistics are slightly higher than what the Pathfinder's engine can deliver, it is not reflected in driving situations. The Telluride's 0-to-97 km/h acceleration time was a slower 7.1 seconds as it was not as responsive to throttle inputs at lower speeds compared to the Pathfinder.
